On August 16th, Irepresented BBI by going to the annual Mathex Competition in ASB stadium at Kohimarama, having been selected to be part of the Mathex A Team. It was my first time at this competition and my teammates and I were very nervous. There were many schools from all over Auckland and we only had 20 minutes to do 30 questions. 3...2...1... and we were off!! We quickly finished the first three questions but we got stuck on question four. We panicked, but thankfully we managed to recover and continued to do the rest of the questions as fast as we could. After a lot of hard work, and co-operation, we managed to beat the 100 teams from across Auckland and came out with a win for BBI. We received Casio calculators for prizes, and the school was able to keep the huge trophy in the office for another year, as the Year 7 A Team also won last year.
Our Current Mathex Task:
In Mathex, we are currently designing a game to do with maths. Our group decided to do a board game.
